in Irvine, Orange County and all across California.
Brainspotting is a brain and body approach to process traumas through finding your eye positioning.
Maybe you’ve been doing talk therapy for some time and have been feeling frustrated with the lack of progress and feel “stuck”. Brainspotting is a somatic (brain and body based) modality to allow you to go beyond the neocortical (thinking) part of the brain to access the subcortical part of the brain, where our traumas often remain stuck and unprocessed.
This modality allows you to powerfully access parts of you that has been locked up for so long, and allow release.

We may start with playing biolateral music with headphones, to allow your brain to prepare for brainspotting processing. Biolateral music sound moves in alternating sides of your ear.
Here is an example of Biolateral Music.
I will ask you think of a situation or an event you’d like to process. I will ask what is your level of distress thinking about this event or situation from a scale of 0-10. Then I will guide you with directions and use a pointer to find your “brainspot” with your eye positioning.
You will then focus your eyes on that spot for an extended amount of time while I remain mostly quiet. You may keep your eyes closed or open. You may share as little or as much as you want to share with me.
After the session we can debrief what you experienced.
Brainspotting can be a deeply emotional experience as it access parts of our brain we typically may not utilize for self-protection.

Results vary for every individual.
Some report feeling “lighter” and less tense, and some report increased insight regarding their situation or events.
Some may feel tired, sleepy, or yawn during and after sessions, or have increased emotions after due to the intense nature of brainspotting. That means your brain was working hard!
It is highly recommended to increase your self care before and after sessions by prioritizing good sleep and nutrition, and perhaps allow time of reflection on what you experienced from your session.
